New Testament Assembly Nonsuch
About Us
Nestled in the peaceful community of Nonsuch, just five miles northeast of Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica, you’ll find Nonsuch New Testament Assembly—a church deeply rooted in the Word of God.
Our story began over 65 years ago, in response to the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19–20, when Sister Imodel Dennis (later ordained as Pastor Imodel Dennis) answered the call to bring the Gospel to her community. Through much prayer and fasting, and with the support of Evangelists Steel and Brown, and later Brother Joseph Palmer (who became Elder Palmer), the foundation for what we now know as Nonsuch NTA was laid.
Since those humble beginnings, the church has experienced remarkable growth—physically, spiritually, and numerically. Throughout the years, many faithful individuals, led and inspired by the Holy Spirit, have played significant roles in advancing the Kingdom of God here in Nonsuch.
We honor the contributions of many, including the late Bishop Melvin Powell (who was ordained as pastor while serving at Nonsuch), Pastor R.N. Jemison, Missionaries Alsie Blair and Leonora Smith, Elder Ronald Hendricks, Pastor Loleta Hamilton, and many others who have helped shape the ministry into what it is today.
From its origins in a Bram House, to a Tattu (a simple structure made of sticks and zinc), and now to a modern concrete building capable of hosting over 100 worshippers, Nonsuch New Testament Assembly stands as a living testament to God’s faithfulness and the unwavering dedication of His people.
