New Testament Assembly Aberdeen
About Us
The Aberdeen New Testament Assembly is nestled in the rural parish of St. Elizabeth, in the close-knit community of Aberdeen. The church’s humble beginnings trace back to simple prayer meetings held at the home of Mr. Clifford Parchment. As the fellowship grew, the need for a larger gathering space led to a relocation to the residence of Ms. Roberta Watson.
During these formative years, the ministry was led by Mrs. Eugeny Campbell, supported by a dedicated team of early officers and members, including Rosan Barrett, Allan Powell, Sylvia Goulbourne, Edna Parchment, Clifford Parchment, Manola Green (Deacon), and Nellie Powell.
In 1984, as the congregation continued to expand, the church purchased a parcel of land from Mr. Festous Coley. By 1986, a bamboo and wooden structure, roofed with canvas, was erected. This building became affectionately known in the community as “Bamboo,” due to its unique construction. Under the steadfast leadership of Pastor Eugeny Campbell and with the support of members and the wider community, the church remained active and vibrant. Eventually, a concrete structure was built to replace the original.
The ministry was later blessed by the involvement of Reverend Dr. Io Smith, who provided additional support and guidance. Around this time, Bishop Peart—then serving on the executive board in Port Antonio—along with other delegates from overseas, began visiting and strengthening ties with the church.
Leadership transitioned to Evangelist Rosan Barrett, who was appointed to oversee the church, assisted by Pastor Pennant and Evangelist Wegetha Green-Huggins. Over time, Evangelist Green-Huggins was ordained as pastor of the Aberdeen New Testament Assembly, a role in which she continues to serve faithfully to this day.
She is supported by a dedicated team of officers, including:
- Evangelist Rosan Barrett
- Deacon Steve Huggins
- Missionaries: Lovis Watson, Annett Taylor, Shanalee Griffiths-Brown, and Marcia Foster
- Secretary & Youth Evangelist: Shakera Griffiths
Together with the congregation and community members, they continue to build on the rich legacy of faith, service, and fellowship that has defined the Aberdeen New Testament Assembly from its inception.
